Stapav\u00edk <\/a>is an inlet once used as a harbour. From the farm Una\u00f3s, which is the most eastern point in Hjaltasta\u00f0a\u00feingh\u00e1, there is a beautiful trail along the river Selflj\u00f3t and down the the sea. Along the way you will pass the ruins of a hut for 15th-century fishermen and of a shelter for pasturing sheep. More ruins await above the banks at the mouth of the river, where an official trading harbour was located from 1920 and onwards.<\/p>\n

Hikers leave from a small parking area near the driveway leading to the farm Una\u00f3s and walk along the river Selflj\u00f3t. An ideal stop would be by Krossh\u00f6f\u00f0i landing which in 1902 was made an official trading harbour. You will find the cylinder with visitors\u2019 logbook and stamp by the old winch in Stapav\u00edk. Merchandise was shipped to Stapav\u00edk until the nineteen thirties. An old trail lies from Krossh\u00f6f\u00f0i through G\u00f6nguskar\u00f0 to Njar\u00f0v\u00edk<\/p>\n
