Desjam\u00fdri (N65\u00b036.79-W15\u00b020.83)<\/strong><\/p>\n

At an elevation of 429 m and with a pleasant view of grassy wetlands and the mountains, Desjam\u00fdri stands on a hill on the seaward side of Arnarvatn lake, next to Desjam\u00fdrarl\u00e6kur brook. This farm was established by Matthildur Sigur\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir from Gr\u00edmssta\u00f0ir and her husband Eymundur Arngr\u00edmsson from Haukssta\u00f0ir, who also served as a sexton. It is possible to walk to Desjam\u00fdri from the Arnarvatn dam, but good footwear is a must due to marshes. Alternatively, one can walk up from Haukssta\u00f0ir and head inland to Desjam\u00fdri. While the latter route is much more difficult, it also offers the opportunity of climbing up \u00deverfell mountain to enjoy the panorama. The route on the north side of \u00deverfell used to be part of the main trail from M\u00f6\u00f0rudalur down to Vopnafj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. Desjam\u00fdri was deserted in 1880.<\/p>\n
