Lindarsel <\/strong>
N65\u00b022.20-W15\u00b025.80<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was the last home to be established in J\u00f6kuldalshei\u00f0i. That occurred in 1862, on land which had previously belonged to Skj\u00f6ld\u00f3lfssta\u00f0ir. Lindarsel was settled by Lov\u00edsa Dorotea, whose father was the doctor J\u00f6rgen Kjerulf at Brekka; and Gu\u00f0mundur, a son of Hallgr\u00edmur, farmer at Sk\u00f6r\u00f0 in Reykjahverfi. The couple soon had a daughter, \u00d3l\u00f6f Dorotea, but Lovisa died shortly afterwards and Gu\u00f0mundur gave up farming, leaving Lindarsel in 1863. \u00d3l\u00f6f Dorotea moved to the Americas with her grandmother. Before the Lindarsel farm was built, there was probably a refuge hut there, situated by the old trail between M\u00f6\u00f0rudalur and Skj\u00f6ld\u00f3lfssta\u00f0ir, a trail referred to in 1532 as Skj\u00f6ld\u00f3lfssta\u00f0avegur.<\/p>\n
