Originally, in the spring of 1843, Sænautasel was taken out of the Hákonarstaðir estate, and the first residents were Kristrún, a daughter of Bjarni, farmer at Staffell; and Sigurður, a son of Einar, farmer at Brú. Sænautasel offered the advantages of excellent trout fishing in the lake along with good summer ranges and grassy marshes for haying; however, there was often deep snow there, and there was little shelter from the wind. The farm was abandoned in 1943 but reconstructed as a showpiece in 1992. The buildings now allow for a number of summertime activities which emphasise cultural heritage, demonstrating to the modern traveller how rural Icelandic people lived early in the 20th century.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https://visitegilsstadir.is/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Sænautasel-2.jpg” title_text=”Sænautasel 2″ _builder_version=”4.7.7″ _module_preset=”default”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”3.29.3″ background_color=”#eaeaea” custom_padding=”14px|||||”][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.29.3″ width=”90%” custom_padding=”10px|||||”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.29.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.7.7″ header_3_font=”|600|||||||” header_3_text_color=” #889438 ” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″]

ADDITIONAL INFO

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_4,3_4″ _builder_version=”3.29.3″ width=”89%” min_height=”195px” custom_margin=”10px||10px||false|false” border_width_all=”1px” border_color_all=” #889438 “][et_pb_column type=”1_4″ _builder_version=”3.29.3″][et_pb_image src=”https://visitegilsstadir.is/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Sænautasel-1.jpg” title_text=”Sænautasel 1″ _builder_version=”4.7.7″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”3_4″ _builder_version=”3.29.3″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.7.7″ custom_padding=”|10px||10px|false|false” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″]

Ferðafélag Fljótsdalshéraðs – Tjarnarási 8 – 700 Egilsstaðir – (Pósthólf 154)

Tel: +354 863 5813

Website: www.ferdaf.is

Email: ferdaf@ferdaf.is

Email: info@visitegilsstadir.is

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

1.
