The Wilderness Center is an authentic and peaceful hideaway. Our guests experience the spirit of the past through a variety of services, such as: unique accommodation, local food, wilderness museum, horse riding, marked hiking trails, mountain biking, day tours, escorted tours and tailor made tours.<\/p>\n

EXHIBITION – STEP INTO THE PAST<\/h2>\n

Experience a visually stunning exhibition where you can walk into the adventures of the Icelandic wilderness and be touched by the dramatic struggle between the forces of nature and the Icelander\u00b4s fight to survive. A fascinating exhibition showcasing Icelandic wilderness history, nature and the life of the original inhabitants of the farm. Step into the past Visiting the Wilderness Center is an adventure. As soon as guests park their cars and cross the old wooden bridge at the Wilderness Center, they step into the past. Every detail at the premises has been remade in the original style to make the visitor feel as if taking part in an adventure of the past. The buildings, interior decorations, food, activities and hosts all play a vital role in this experience. The accommodation offered is integrated into the museum, and thus our guests spend both night and day in the \u201cWilderness World.\u201d\u00a0
Opening dates \u2013\u00a015 May \u2013 15 September<\/a>\u00a0and upon request (for groups)\u00a0 Open daily\u00a011 am \u2013 6 pm<\/a>\u00a0Admission: 2,700 ISK Admission for children 13 years +, students, seniors and disabled: 2,160 ISK Admission for children 6-12 years when traveling with adults: 900 ISK<\/p>\n

MOUNTAIN BIKE RENTAL<\/h2>\n

Biking is a great way to enjoy the nature and tranquil atmosphere of East Iceland. Either wondering along old trails in the peaceful valleys or curving along animals trails on the highland plateau, enjoying spectacular views. Our mountain bikes are complimentary for our overnight guests.
For other visitors, we rent out our high-quality hardtail mountain bikes in varying sizes. The price for a one day rental is: 6000.-isk per bike. Kids bike 4000.-isk per bike Rental hours are\u00a0from 09:00 \u2013 17:00<\/a>. every day, for late drop off, there is an extra fee of 1000.-isk then you can have the bike\u00a0until midnight<\/a>. Included in the rental is a helmet. Credit card number is needed for insurance upon arrival.<\/p>\n

HORSE RIDING<\/h2>\n

We offer a selection of horse riding tours. The activities range from a few hours to several days explore the magnificent nature in the company of the friendly Icelandic horse.\u00a0 All our tours are conducted in English. In addition, our staff speaks several other languages. Please let us know about your wishes regarding guided tours in other languages than English.<\/p>\n
