Examples of the local\u00a0poetry\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As you pass through the villages of Egilssta\u00f0irand Fellab\u00e6r you may notice, on selected walls and windows, examples of local poetry. This custom first started in 2008 when the love poems of renowned local poet P\u00e1ll \u00d3lafsson (1827-1905) were put up in a few locations. This is now the sixth time the villages are decorated in this manner and each time there has been a certain theme, celebrating either the works of a single local poet, a selection from several of them or even the poetry of local children.<\/p>\n

I did not know that it varies year to year? Maybe we should skip this next part, or where do find info abput this?
This year marks the 70-year anniversary of the district of Egilssta\u00f0ir being formally founded. It is therefore appropriate that all the poets have in common to have lived in Egilssta\u00f0ir for some time in their lives.
All the poets, save for two, are born before 1947.<\/p>\n
